My Journey
- Sewing for Beginners

Two years ago, I had asked my husband to get me a sewing machine for my birthday. I had convinced him that I really wanted to sew and this would be the ideal gift for me. After all both him and my daughter would benefit from my sewing anyway, right?!
Sadly, my machine lived in my closet for at least two and a half years as I was left not knowing how to start. As many do, I turned to Youtube but with so many video's on how to set up and none resembling a similar machine to mine, I was left feeling frustrated, disappointed and uninspired this ultimately lead me to store my machine. I never intended a waiting period of 2+ years, sigh.
Earlier this year, I met someone who told me about the classes she was attending not to far from me at a reasonable price. I enrolled for the course of 12 weeks with a learning outcome of;
- How to operate a sewing machine;
- Creating your own patterns; and
- Cutting and sewing garments
Given our current circumstances, I have only completed three classes yet I have learnt so much! By the end of my course, I should have completed a bodice, simple top, a skirt, trousers and a dress.
To date, I have sewed a kids dress, two simple blouses, men's racer tank top, two t-shirts, facemasks (small, medium and large) as well as beautiful covers for my couch pillows.
I am super excited for what lies ahead and cannot wait to share my journey with you!
